Mid Autumn Festival at PARKROYAL on Beach Road

Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant and 50 volunteers from six of its sister companies joined hands to make over 700 mooncakes for the needy with the assistance of Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District. The mooncakes were then baked and packed into 300 goodie bags together with snacks for distribution at the Lions Befriender Senior Activity Centre at Mei Ling Street and the NTUC Eldercare SilverACE at Whampoa.

133 goodie bags including snacks, household necessities and four handmade Red Bean Paste Dumplings prepared by the restaurant’s chefs were distributed to needy families in the Whampoa district to wish them a joyous Dumpling Festival celebration. The residents also enjoyed the restaurant’s signature Homemade Fine Bean Curd with Wolfberry.

Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant celebrate Chinese New Year with a heart-warming gathering at Lions Befrienders Senior Activity Centre on Mei Ling Street with the convenience and safety of the elderly beneficiaries. The event included an eight course buffet spread and a karaoke sing-along session with the restaurant’s Executive Director, Ms Wee Wei Ling and Advisor to Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations, Dr Chia Shi Lu.

Enabling the elderly to assist their own neighbours, 40 beneficiaries from the Central Singapore District rolled up their sleeves and made glutinous rice dumplings with Si Chuan Dou Hua’s chefs. The rice dumplings were then sold at all three Si Chuan Dou Hua restaurants, with proceeds going towards goodie bags containing daily necessities for 100 households. 

Dumpling Festival at Nanyang Polytechnic

As part of the restaurant’s tradition of giving back to society, Si Chuan Dou Hua chefs imparted the skill of dumpling making to 26 Year 1 student volunteers from Nanyang Polytechnic’s Diploma of Food & Beverage Business on 10 June 2013. Together, a total of 769 rice dumplings were wrapped in a span of two hours. These dumplings were then brought back to the restaurant and steamed before they were distributed to 100 underprivileged households by volunteers from Si Chuan Dou Hua, Central Singapore Community Development Council and Thye Hua Kwan Family Service Centre on 12 June. Each household also received staple food items such as cream crackers, Milo and 3-in-1 coffee.

Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurants and Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) shared the joy of Lunar New Year with 80 underprivileged elderly from the Central Singapore District. Involving staff from every department, the elderly were first engaged in a hands-on dumpling-making session by our team of chefs. Dumplings look like ingots and signify prosperity for the coming year.

They then sat down for an oriental high tea reception, which kicked off with a spirited toss of the auspicious yusheng. The God of Fortune also made a surprise appearance to distribute red packets and spread the festive cheer as the elderly indulged in the scrumptious dim sum spread. 

 The highlight of the evening was an impromptu sing-along segment led by our management. The crowd cheered and sang along to nostalgic hits in Mandarin and familiar dialects, including Tian Mi Mi’(‘ 甜蜜蜜’) and ‘Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin’ (‘ 月亮代表我的心’), famous tunes of the late legendary singer Teresa Teng.
